Free Legal Advice

Our attorneys offer free, 20-minute legal consultations for an array of civil matters. Appointments are currently being held virtually via Zoom from 1-5 p.m. Each appointment will be a maximum of 20 minutes. Please click here to set your appointment. If no appointments are available, please check again on Monday, when new appointment slots are added.

For questions or scheduling assistance, please email justicenavigator@leeclerk.org. No matter your legal problem, we’ll do our best to try to help. If we can’t help you, we’ll try to point you where you need to go.

Justice for All

Not everyone can afford an attorney, but everyone should be able to obtain a basic understanding of their legal circumstances and how to deal with them. The purpose of the consultations is to foster that understanding for people who are unfamiliar with the legal resources available to them and unable to otherwise obtain advice.

Swifter Justice

Our free consultations at the Self Help Center benefit everyone in the legal community. Valuable time and resources are drained from judges and magistrates who must deal with pro se litigants unable to file the proper paperwork in a timely manner, unaware of the necessary procedures, and unfamiliar with courtroom protocol. The more we can inform people, the better.

Case Types

We see many different types of cases. Examples of some of the types of cases we may help you with include:

  • Landlord/Tenant
  • Wage Garnishment/Debt Collections
  • Small Claims cases
  • Civil court cases
  • Probate, (Wills, Trusts & Estates)
  • Family Law
  • Foreclosure
  • Name Change
  • Employment
  • Real Estate
  • Insurance Fraud

The attorneys cannot represent the customer in court, but may provide referrals to attorneys, if needed. Legal consultations will not be provided for criminal cases, intellectual property or maritime matters.
