We will be limiting physical contact with the public to slow the spread of COVID-19. As such, the Self-Help Center has suspended services until further notice. Call the Clerk of Court at 239-533-2835 if you have any questions. We thank you for your patience.
Free Legal Advice
Our attorneys offer free, 15-minute legal consultations to all comers on Tuesdays from 1-4:30 p.m. at the Self Help Center on the first floor of the Lee County Justice Center. Call the Clerk of Court at 239-533-2835 to make a Self Help Center appointment. We also offer these services reserved specifically for the working public BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, on the first Thursday evening of the month, between 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and the third Saturday of the month, between 9 a.m. and Noon, at Cape Coral United Way House (enter at rear of the building). No matter your legal problem, we’ll do our best to try to help. If we can’t help you, we’ll try to point you where you need to go.
Justice for All
Not everyone can afford an attorney, but everyone should be able to obtain a basic understanding of their legal circumstances and how to deal with them. The purpose of the consultations is to foster that understanding for people who are unfamiliar with the legal resources available to them and unable to otherwise obtain advice.
Our free consultations at the Self Help Center benefit everyone in the legal community. Valuable time and resources are drained from judges and magistrates who must deal with pro se litigants unable to file the proper paperwork in a timely manner, unaware of the necessary procedures, and unfamiliar with courtroom protocol. The more we can inform people, the better.
