Support Lee County Legal Aid Society

As a nonprofit provider of legal support, Lee County Legal Aid Society relies on donations and grants. We use these to employ a staff of full-time attorneys and administrators that provide free legal counsel and direct representation in select cases.

For many, Lee County Legal Aid Society is the only place to turn for assistance during hard times, offering support for those with nowhere else to go. Without qualified legal support, it can often become necessary for public services to intervene. This is not only a last resort for the individuals involved, but their challenges also create a strain on taxpayers.

Your Donation Has a Direct Impact

Lee County Legal Aid Society works tirelessly to mitigate a variety of challenges that impact the Lee County residents we serve. Your financial support helps ensure qualified attorneys can continue to provide free legal support to our community, delivered with compassion and expertise.

Lack of Affordable Housing

With the current lack of affordable housing in Lee County, bad actors are actively preying on vulnerable renters and homeowners who are desperate to avoid homelessness. At the same time, responsible landlords could face catastrophic losses without legal support in tenant disputes. Lee County Legal Aid Society can help either side understand their rights and, if necessary, defend themselves in court.

Child Neglect & Abandonment

Child immigration is an unfortunate reality in our country and a challenge for communities across the nation – including Lee County. By assisting neglected and abandoned minors, Lee County Legal Aid Society is ensuring young people gain a path to proper education and employment, so they don’t become a burden on taxpayers.

Domestic Violence & Abuse

It is well-documented that economic strains, such as those seen during the pandemic and economic downturns in general, lead to increases in domestic violence. Lee County Legal Aid Society began with a focus on helping vulnerable populations escape abuse, and we continue to provide critical legal support in this area.

Child Welfare & Custody Cases

When a parent isn’t able to care for a child due to a caregiver’s death, illness, drug addiction, incarceration or other factors, another parent or family member often steps up and needs to obtain legal custody to care for the child or children. Lee County Legal Aid Society provides legal support to help navigate that process for the benefit of children.

Additional Areas of Support

Lee County Legal Aid provides legal support in a variety of legal areas, focusing on the services that promote a better quality of life for all in Lee County, especially matters involving children.
